Report and check the shelters
The City’s page links to animals found in the last 14 days and its shelter locations. Check listings repeatedly and contact the shelters about a possible match. Toronto also recommends visiting shelters and veterinary clinics in person; check hours before travelling.
If someone finds a loose dog
Toronto asks finders to report the dog to 311 whether or not they can safely contain it. Give the exact location and any visible licence information. Let the operator guide the next steps.
After the reunion
Tell 311 your dog is home, update your missing-pet posts and remove your flyers. If the last sighting was outside Toronto, contact that municipality’s animal service too.
While you wait for news
