Use the municipal shelter’s reporting tools
The Ottawa Humane Society operates the Municipal Animal Shelter. Its page provides a lost-pet report and found-dog photographs. Include your dog’s photo and identifying details, and follow up on possible matches rather than waiting only for a reply.
Arrange the visit
Contact 613-725-3166, extension 223 for intake or reclaim questions. The current page recommends an appointment before bringing in a found animal, but does not require one. Check its contact page before travelling to the shelter.
Prepare to identify your dog
Keep ownership records and identification available and confirm the reclaim requirements with the shelter. If the dog crossed into Gatineau or another municipality, also contact the service responsible for that area; an Ottawa report does not cover every nearby shelter.
While you wait for news
